Extended/Developed final ideas

Our final idea was to stick with the original J-horror genre and all its conventions. This allowed us to all research Japanese horror in depth and understand the origins of the conventions expressed in the films for example the paranormal sub genre and an Asian female leading character convention are based on Japanese folklore and ghost stories. According to our questionnaire results, our target audience are interested in comic books and japanese anime so that has allowed us to develop upon the films narrative.

The scene begins early evening with a panning shot of a young girl searching through library shelves, she then finds a strange comic book and as she attempts to borrow it, the librarian tells her it has no bar code and doesn't belong to the library. The girl is enchanted by the character on the front cover and as she walks away from the desk there is a zoom in on her hands and the front cover of the comic as she puts it into her bag regardless. We would then use a P.O.V shot whilst the girl is walking through her school corridors and going home, signifying her loneliness.

Character Profile

In Japanese horror films, the characters are conventionally females from an Asian origin with a pale complexion and dark hair.
